History
The place is called "Happy Island" but it has been on the map by the name "Guard Island" since 1712. Pharmacist Castren
owned the island in 1880 and the official business name Ainola was entitled according his wife Aino.
The Defence Forces of Finland owned the island from 1939 to 1944. They used it in different military operations; for example
"Kaukopartio" (Guerrillas) had their headquarters on the island.
Industrial counsellor Lamminen owned the island several years after the war. Mr. Onni Harju-Autti bought the island
to be his private vacation area in 1973. The purpose of use was changed in 1983 to the luxury tourism attraction.
The "Pavilion house" and the small red cottage have endured from the 17th century.
